SUBSTANCE: method for controlling power plants with asynchronous starter generators. According to the method for controlling a power plant that has two levels of output voltages, including an energy storage device, an asynchronous machine with an internal combustion engine (ICE) on the shaft, controlled by the first valve converter, the second valve converter for charging the energy storage device, and the third valve converter with a device for recharging the energy storage device, and a battery charging device, determine the degree of charge of the energy storage device and, if the charge is insufficient, recharge the energy storage device from the battery, start the internal combustion engine, performing a frequency start of an asynchronous machine with an internal combustion engine on the shaft from the energy storage device through the first valve converter. In this case, the second valve converter is bypassed during start-up. Then the asynchronous machine is switched to generator mode and the second valve converter and battery charger are turned on, while the internal combustion engine is starting, the third valve converter is turned off, and in the generator mode of the asynchronous machine, when the rotation speed of the said shaft changes, the ratio of the average voltage amplitude of the phases of the asynchronous machine to the frequency of this voltage is maintained close to the value corresponding to the nominal value of the magnetic flux of the asynchronous machine.
