FIELD: chemical synthesis.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to obtain PEG metallic ether, which is subsequently used as a raw material for production of superplasticizers for building mixtures. A method for production of metallyl ether of polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight of about 400 g/mol, contains the following steps: catalysis of metallyl alcohol with an alkaline catalyst to a given alkalinity level of not more than 5 mg KOH/g, and after the catalysis stage, the catalyzed metallyl alcohol is dried by heating it to temperatures around 60°C, creating vacuum pressure and bubbling with nitrogen, and drying is carried out to a mass fraction of water of no more than 0.025%; pre-reaction of catalyzed metallic alcohol with ethylene oxide, and the pre-reaction is carried out at a temperature of 95-110°C, in this case, at the pre-reaction stage, ethylene oxide is supplied to a ratio of 1 mol of ethylene oxide per 1 mol of alcohol; the reaction of pre-reacted catalyzed metallic alcohol with ethylene oxide to a predetermined alkalinity level of 0.3–0.7 mg KOH/g, while at the reaction stage ethylene oxide is supplied with a gradual increase in flow rate and a gradual increase in temperature, while the step of increasing flow rate is 100-200 kg/h, and the temperature increase step is about 1°C/5 min. The invention also relates to a method for producing metallyl ether of polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight of about 2,400 g/mol and to a composition for producing superplasticizers for construction mixtures containing metallyl ether of polyethylene glycol obtained by a method for producing metallyl ether of polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight of about 2,400 g/mol.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of the process for production of metallic ether of polyethylene glycol by suppressing formation of reaction water, while the product has a narrow distribution of molecular weight in the range from 2,240 to 2,550 and weight and contains free PEG in an amount of no more than 1 wt.%.
