FIELD: petroleum geological research.
SUBSTANCE: used in the search for oil and gas fields in ancient oil and gas basins, where hydrocarbon deposits were reformed over time. Within the framework of the proposed method, based on the results of a study of core samples taken from wells inside and outside the zone previously identified by comparing the paleostructural and modern plan of the zone and oil and gas accumulation, the boundaries of a new field in the ancient oil and gas basin are established, and further studies of the core and AVO analysis of 3D seismic exploration determine the areas for spot production drilling inside the field, forming a contour of oil and gas potential.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining zones of distribution of secondary minerals, the presence of which characterizes possible zones of distribution of hydrocarbons in the study area and helps to increase the reliability of identifying new oil and gas fields and determining their boundaries in ancient oil and gas basins.
