FIELD: geology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of geology and can be used for stratification of homogeneous Upper Cretaceous siliceous strata. The essence of the invention consists in the complex application of well logging data, seismostratigraphy, biostratigraphy and magnetostratigraphy. On the basis of seismostratigraphy and analysis of well logs, schemes of correlation between layers of opokas and opoka-like deposits are constructed. Sections are compared using working correlations made graphically in a closed circle, taking into account the data on lithology and biostratigraphy. Biostratigraphic subdivisions are distinguished: zones and layers with fauna. Taking into account the identified biostratigraphic units, the correlation of opoka-like deposits of the Upper Cretaceous is refined to create a consistent model of the geological structure of the Upper Cretaceous level of the section of oil and gas regions. Magnetozones are distinguished, corresponding to the zones of the world magnetochronological scale. The boundaries between the magnetic zones reflect the levels of polarity reversal of the ancient magnetic field, are isochronous and are considered as reference levels.
EFFECT: increasing the reliability of data for mapping, dissection and correlation of homogeneous siliceous strata.
