FIELD: nutritional compositions.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a nutritional composition for infants. An artificial nutritional composition optimized for an infant of a particular age contains gamma-tocopherol at a concentration reflecting the concentration found in breast milk produced for an infant of the same age. Moreover, if the artificial nutritional composition is optimized for an infant under 2 months of age, the gamma-tocopherol concentration is 1–8.5 mcg/ml, and if the artificial nutritional composition is optimized for an infant over 2 months of age, the gamma-tocopherol concentration is 0.4–7.8 mcg/ml. In this case, the nutritional composition is applied in the prevention and/or treatment of conditions associated with suboptimal gamma-tocopherol levels, such as hypovitaminosis, abetalipoproteinemia and fat malabsorption, and is an infant formula. The nutrition system contains an artificial nutritional composition for an infant under 2 months of age and an artificial nutritional composition for an infant over 2 months of age. Moreover, the concentration of gamma-tocopherol in said artificial nutritional composition for an infant under 2 months of age is higher than in said artificial nutritional composition for infants aged 2 months and older.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to provide an optimized amount of gamma-tocopherol in a nutritional composition for infants of a certain age.
