SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a wrapper of smoking material to which vanilla flavour has been added, and to a smoking article containing such a wrapper. A smoking material wrapper wrapped around a smoking material of a smoking article, the smoking material wrapper comprising at least one vanilla-containing material: vanillin, ethylvanillin and ethylvanillin glucoside; and cigar fibres, wherein the weight of the vanilla-containing material incorporated into the smoking material wrapper is from 1% to 5% of the total weight of the smoking material wrapper, wherein the weight of the cigar fibres incorporated into the smoking material wrapper may be from 20% up to 40% of the total weight of the smoking material wrapper, and the weight of the vanilla-containing material included in the smoking material wrapper depends on the mass of cigar fibres included in the smoking material wrapper.

EFFECT: reducing the odour of the side smoke flow, softening the taste of tobacco smoke and reducing its irritating properties.
