FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical control of production processes and relates to a method for automatic monitoring of melt flow coming out of a waste heat boiler. Method comprises reading by processor at least one stationary recorded video sequence containing digital video frames, each of which contains the analysed area, which is at least part of the melt flow coming out of the waste heat boiler. Processor identifies an area in the investigated region which is distinguished by colour and/or intensity, and the property of the melt flow under consideration is determined based on the identified distinguishable region.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of optimization of processes of chemical utilization and energy generation in the waste heat boiler, and prevention of melt splashes.
