SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the identification of abnormalities in the body associated with the development of malignant tumours, and can be used in medicine for the diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumours of the thyroid gland. A DCTN1-RET fusion gene, consisting of the DCTN1 and RET genes, has been identified and is associated with a malignant thyroid tumour. The following is proposed: means and methods of its detection in the body, as well as of screening compounds aimed at inhibiting its expression or the activity of the fusion polypeptide it encodes and therapy of such tumours.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to identify and treat a malignant thyroid tumour expressing the DCTN1-RET fusion gene.
