FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to low-carbon free machining steel used for production of parts in machine building. Steel contains components in the following ratio, wt.%: carbon 0.08–0.15, manganese 1.1–1.5, silicon not more than 0.05, sulphur 0.27–0.35, phosphorus 0.005–0.015, nitrogen not more than 0.007, aluminium 0.003–0.02, calcium 0.001–0.004, iron and unavoidable impurities — the rest, wherein ratio of aluminium to calcium content is from 3 to 5. Required content of sulphur must be obtained by alloying, and the weight fraction of sulphur before alloying does not exceed 0.005 wt.%. Steel microalloying with calcium is carried out with silicocalcium at rate of 0.004–0.01 wt.% of calcium without taking into account waste in liquid metal.
EFFECT: required complex of strength properties and machinability with preservation of quality of processed parts surface are provided.
