FIELD: optical signals.
SUBSTANCE: method for isolating signals from noise used in areas where it is necessary to determine noise parameters. The method for detecting optical signals includes threshold processing of signals and the formation of output pulses when the signal from the output of the photodiode exceeds a given operating threshold, while the frequency f0 of noise crossing the zero threshold is first determined, the avalanche multiplication coefficient of the photodiode M is alternately set at three levels M*=1, M1>1 and M2>M1, set the response threshold U at the level at which the frequencies P=f(M*), f1 =f(M1) and f2 =f(M2) exceed it by noise emissions in modes M1 and M2 satisfy the condition f1<<f0, record the values of M1, M2, f1 and f2 and calculate the parameterα noise factor of avalanche multiplication F=Mα according to the formula
where , after which the optimal mode for detecting optical signals is established, taking into account the specified parameter α.
EFFECT: optimizing the sensitivity of photodetectors by quickly determining the noise factor of the receiving path when constructing miniature, including wearable and built-in equipment, operating in a wide range of climatic conditions.
