SUBSTANCE: computing device is provided that is configured to control the delivery of input state when operating a user input interface, wherein the computing device includes one or more computer readable storage media, a processing system, and a user input interface containing program instructions stored on one or more computer readable storage media, which, based on their reading and execution by the processing system, cause the processing system to at least identify a target tempo for delivering user input state to the application, determine, based on at least the target tempo, one or more timing parameters for delivering user input state input from the user input device, and indicate the one or more timing parameters to the user input device, wherein the user input device responds by transmitting a state of the user input according to the one or more timing parameters.
