SUBSTANCE: invention can be used during repair works by thermal cutting of a process hole in metal pipelines with a gas mixture. On the pipeline with gas mixture the housing of the hole cutting device is fixed by means of magnetic attraction, which is connected to the supporting unit of the cutter of thermal cutting, in which the cutter is fixed. In the process of cutting, the supporting unit with the cutter is disconnected from the housing and the slot formed in the process of cutting the process hole is covered with refractory material. Then the supporting unit with the cutter is connected to the housing and cutting of the process hole is continued.

EFFECT: method provides freeing of the near-pipe space for covering the slot without the risk of displacement of the device for cutting the hole on the pipeline, which eliminates the risk of injury to workers.
