FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to measurement equipment and experimental study of physical and chemical properties of metals and alloys, namely, to determination of rate of interaction of hydrogen with metals and alloys in wide range of temperatures, and can be used in materials science and machine building to estimate the rate of corrosive action of hydrogen and other gases. Method of studying the kinetics of interaction of hydrogen with a sample from a metal or alloy involves measuring the current value of the rate of absorption of hydrogen by the material of the analysed sample at constant temperature, as well as measurement of hydrogen release rate by material of analysed sample when heated in furnace. Measurement of current value of hydrogen absorption rate by material of analysed sample at constant temperature is carried out by preliminary thermostating in furnace of inert and analysed samples, placed in first and second isolated reaction chambers, respectively, by evacuation of reaction chambers, supply of specified amount of hydrogen into these chambers, measuring the decrease in the readings of the differential pressure gauge per unit time and the volume of hydrogen introduced by the dosing syringe into the second reaction chamber with the analysed sample to equalize the pressure between the reaction chambers with subsequent calculation of the current value of the hydrogen absorption rate by the material of the analysed sample from the value of the ratio of the current pressure value to the current value of the duration of the process. Total hydrogen absorption rate is determined by the ratio of the volume of absorbed hydrogen to the duration of the process, and measurement of hydrogen release rate by material of hydrogenated test sample during heating in furnace is carried out by measuring growth of readings of differential pressure gauge per unit of time, measuring the volume of hydrogen removed from the second reaction chamber with a dosing syringe, with subsequent calculation of the current value of the hydrogen release rate by the material of the analysed sample from the value of the ratio of the current pressure to the current value of the duration of the process. Total rate of hydrogen release is determined from the ratio of the volume of released hydrogen to the duration of the process.
EFFECT: development of method and device for investigation of kinetics of interaction of hydrogen with sample from metal or alloy both in process of hydrogen absorption, and in the process of hydrogen release by the sample material with high accuracy of measuring parameters and excluding research errors.
