FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed group of inventions relates to measuring equipment, namely to small-sized instruments, and can be used in agriculture to determine ripeness of fruits and vegetables. Method for monitoring electrodynamic characteristics in the microwave range is a series of measurements for assessing the ripeness of the tested agricultural product, wherein each measurement includes voltage supply by the control microcircuit from the smartphone connector to the microwave generator with generation of a signal of a certain frequency, radiation of electromagnetic waves of said frequency by antenna connected to microwave generator, measurement of voltage U0 supplied by microwave generator to antenna, introduction of agricultural product into radiation field, measurement of voltage Ur at the antenna contacts when the agricultural product is carried, transmission of the measured voltage values to the smartphone and calculation of the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) by the formula: VSWR = (Ur + U0)/(Ur - U0), after calculating VSWR for said frequency, increasing the voltage value supplied by the control microcircuit from the smartphone connector to the microwave generator, and performing new measurements until the final value of the microwave generator operating range is achieved, quantitative values of VSWR for different frequencies obtained during a series of measurements are compared with a pre-calculated standard for a given agricultural product under test, on the basis of which a conclusion is made on ripeness of the tested agricultural product. Device for monitoring electrodynamic characteristics in the microwave range includes a smartphone with special software for performing calculations and a smartphone case connected to the smartphone via a USB OTG cable, wherein the smartphone case comprises a built-in transceiver module and a control microcircuit for supplying voltage, transceiving module represents at least one voltage-controlled microwave generator and an antenna for emitting electromagnetic waves connected to each microwave generator.

EFFECT: wider range of equipment for determining ripeness of agricultural products and higher accuracy of determining ripeness of agricultural products.
