SUBSTANCE: ironing device (10) comprising iron (11) equipped with a steam unit configured to supply steam after switching on at least one steam supply switch (19), and a corresponding method of controlling the steam supply are proposed. Ironing device (10) comprises iron (11) equipped with a steam unit configured to supply steam after switching on at least one steam supply switch (19) or manual command element (23), wherein iron (11) has base (15), during operation, is in contact with article of clothing to be ironed, and upper body (14), which comprises at least gripping handle of iron (11), as well as upper shell (16), made in the form of a rigid structure with bearing functions and containing parts or mechanisms intended for ironing device (10) functioning, wherein upper housing (14) and base (15) are attached to each other in a movable manner by means of connecting means (24), wherein the steam supply switch (19) is optionally actuated by moving upper housing (14) relative to base (15), note here that ironing device comprises switch (26) to adjust ironing device (10) so that steam feed mechanism can be controlled by switch (19) and/or manual control element (23) and/or both.

EFFECT: purpose of group of inventions is creation of ironing device, which not only automatically supplies steam during movement of iron, but also enables to control the alternation of operations of supplying steam and drying the article of clothing to be ironed, without excessive moistening of this article of clothing or excessive slowing down of its drying.
