FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of producing tungsten hexacarbonyl, which is widely used in the application of protective, heat-resistant and super-strong tungsten coatings, which are used in radio-electronic, electrovacuum, nuclear and rocket engineering. Method of producing tungsten hexacarbonyl involves reacting carbon monoxide with tungsten hexachloride etherate in the presence of a reducing agent. Tungsten hexachloride and the reducing agent are taken at a weight ratio of 1:(0.5–0.7). Reducing agent is an activated zinc powder distributed in a paraffin mass in ratio of 1:(0.1–0.2) by weight, which is added to tungsten hexachloride etherate, heated to 19–21 °C.
EFFECT: obtaining tungsten hexacarbonyl in optimal parameters of the reaction and reducing the amount of by-products of the reaction.
