FIELD: radio measurements.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for determination of antenna characteristics and calibration of radar stations, as well as investigation of electromagnetic environment. Disclosed are antenna measurements method and system, which enable to determine antenna characteristics in the absence of a GNSS signal and differential corrections from the monitoring and correcting station, for which in the far zone of the investigated antenna, connected to the synchronization unit, an unmanned tethered balloon with a suspended container is installed, in which there is a radio measuring unit rigidly connected to the unit of optical reference points, a coordinate unit, as well as an on-board storage device. Optical measuring device, a clock signal receiving unit and a removable data medium are placed on the earth's surface under the unmanned tethered balloon. Optical measuring device is tied to the phase or geometric center of the analyzed antenna.

EFFECT: conducting radio measurements in the absence of a GNSS signal, the absence of differential corrections from the monitoring and correcting station, high noise immunity and reduced error in antenna measurements with simultaneous reduction in the cost of operations.
