FIELD: cosmonautics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design and layout of artificial satellites, mainly high-power telecommunication satellites, having lithium-ion batteries (LIB) on board. In the proposed design, the common base of the LIB battery is mounted on a power panel arranged inside the instrument unit in the area near the outer surface of one of the panels of this unit. Latter is selected so that there are no structural elements of the satellite (unit) above the outer surfaces of the ends of the LIB on the side of space. To the base of the LIB battery there is a panel with heat pipes, for example, contour pipes, which are connected to a panel of an autonomous radiator installed in the plane of the north or south radiator. Such arrangement excludes, in case of possible explosion of LIB, direct damage of instruments, other LIB and other elements of the satellite – taking into account that the destroyed end face of LIB flies out with an estimated speed of 700 m/s.
EFFECT: high reliability of normal operation of a satellite in orbit.
