FIELD: technology of water and air purification.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biological treatment of waste water using aboriginal coastal aquatic plants and can be used for purification of waste water of a settling pond from pollutants of a nitrogen group. Method of phytotreatment of waste water includes arrangement of artificial floating islands, consisting of attached modules containing a geotextile with cells with planting biomaterial. Ratio of the area of the cells to the area of the upper surface of geotextile is 0.10–0.50, and area of each cell is not less than 0.005 m2. Modules have an area of not more than 1.0 m2 and a volume of not more than 0.1 m3 for a geotextile.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of waste water treatment, reduced weight and dimensions of the structure.
