FIELD: measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement of parameters and control during milling, to diagnostics of milling tool operability. Method for determining operability of a milling tool includes measuring process parameters of oscillations of the axial load on the milling tool with a hydraulic weight indicator mounted on the fixed end of the tackle rope, and working fluid pressure with a digital pressure gauge – on the pump manifold line in the technical system: "tool – assembly of the bottom of the drill string – pump", further determination of accepted as reference values of criteria for diagnosing operability according to Hoover KHP=HP2/HP1 and KHF=HF2/HF1 and determining operability of the tool by comparing current values of diagnostic criteria with their reference values, reference values of criteria are determined experimentally on a test bench. At the same time higher reliability of evaluation of technical state of milling tool during operation is provided.

EFFECT: higher reliability of calculations for determining tool failure.
