FIELD: data processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of encoding data in a distributed data storage system and a data storage system. Method comprises steps of: a) receiving a request to change at least one data unit in a data structure located in a distributed data storage system; b) recording at least one changed data unit obtained in step a) in a first data store of a data storage unit in form of a replica; c) determining the location of the data structure units in the second data store; d) moving at least one changed data unit into a second data store, wherein, during movement, the changed data unit is encoded, in the course of which the following is performed: i) reading the changed data unit recorded in the first data store of the data storage unit; ii) reading the variable data unit from the second data store of the data storage unit based on the data obtained in step c); iii) determining delta of data changes between data units obtained at steps i-ii); iv) determining the delta of changes of at least one error correction unit based on the delta of data changes obtained in step iii); e) storing at least one encoded modified data unit and at least one error correction unit in a second data store.

EFFECT: high efficiency of encoding data in a distributed data storage system by reducing the number of calls to units of the distributed data storage system when encoding data.
