FIELD: medicine; urology.

SUBSTANCE: intravesical antibacterial laser photodynamic therapy (PDT) is performed. Procedure is carried out under the control of an ultrasonic examination with an abdominal sensor; a Foley catheter with a cut intravesical end is used. Foley catheter balloon is filled with sterile physiologic saline in amount of 10 ml. 0.1% methylene blue is introduced into the bladder cavity in the volume of the bladder. Lumen of the catheter is obturated with a sterile rubber valve. Diffusion-type light guide is introduced into the bladder cavity through the valve so that its diffuser protrudes from the Foley catheter lumen into the bladder cavity. PDT is performed using laser apparatus "Latus" wave length 662 nm in continuous mode, output power 0.75 W, energy density 1.5 J/cm², repeat procedure 2–3 days later. In particular, if the pathogenic flora is preserved in the urine culture taken the next day after the second procedure, the third procedure is performed at wave length 662 nm, output power 1 Wt, energy density 2 J/cm².

EFFECT: method enables increasing the effectiveness of treating bacterial cystitis by accelerating the onset of the qualitative improvement of the condition, reducing the inflammatory process in the bladder, reducing the drug load on the body and preventing recurrent inflammation in the bladder.
