FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of perfluorocopolymers containing functional groups, specifically sulphonyl fluoride groups. Such copolymers are the basis for making ion-exchange membranes used in fuel cells, various electrolysis cells, etc. Method of producing the stabilized copolymer involves emulsion copolymerisation of perfluorosulphonyl ether and tetrafluoroethylene. Obtained product is dried and subjected to fluorination with solid xenon difluoride. Fluorination is carried out at a ratio of xenon difluoride to the weight of polymer from 1:350 to 1:250 for 2–4 hours at temperature of 60–80 °C.

EFFECT: proposed in the invention approach enables to obtain a stabilized copolymer with possibility of controlling its characteristics without using aggressive agents.
