FIELD: foundry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to foundry. Spent coffee grounds are used as a softening process additive when making moulds and cores from sand mixtures based on liquid glass binder. Addition of coffee grounds to said mixture for moulds and cores helps to reduce residual strength of sand mixtures on liquid glass binder after calcination at temperature of fusion of the film of sodium silicates of the binder.
EFFECT: improved knockout ability of moulds and cores.
