SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to defoamers, antifoaming and/or deaerating compositions and their use for breaking down non-aqueous foams, preventing foaming and/or deaeration of raw materials. Disclosed is the use of a foaming composition for breaking down non-aqueous foam, preventing foaming and/or deaeration of various raw materials. Said non-aqueous foam contains a non-aqueous phase and a gas. Said composition contains at least: i) a non-ionic surfactant, wherein said non-ionic surfactant has the following molecular structure (I): R1-CH(R2)-CH2-O-(A’O)m(A’’O)n-H (I), where R1 denotes an alkyl group containing from 5 to 16 carbon atoms, R2 denotes an alkyl group containing from 5 to 16 carbon atoms, A'O denotes an ethoxy (EO) group, A”O denotes an ethoxy (EO) group, m = 0–10, n = 20–150, and ii) a solvent. Also disclosed is a method of breaking down non-aqueous foam, wherein said non-aqueous foam contains a non-aqueous phase and a gas.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides effective destruction of foam, prevention of foaming and deaeration of various non-aqueous materials.
