BONE CEMENT Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61L27/14 A61F2/28

Abstract RU 2822874 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to bone cement for vertebroplasty used in spinal reconstructive surgery. Disclosed bone cement contains a biocompatible polyurethane polymer and consists of two storage-stable components. First component is a synthesized viscous prepolymer with content of free isocyanate NCO groups of 8–10 wt.%, obtained from polyoxypropylene glycol with an average molecular weight of 1,000 and 4,4'-diisocyanate diphenylmethane, with addition of an effective amount of zirconium oxide in amount of 15–40 wt.% of the total weight of the first component, in the presence of a synthesis catalyst—dibutyltin dilaurate; second component is glycerine with a curing catalyst dissolved therein—diazobicyclooctane or a mixture of diazobicyclooctane and triethanolamine, in the following ratio, wt %: diazobicyclooctane—0.2–0.6, triethanolamine—0–15, glycerine—the rest. To obtain a curable composition, the first and second components are used in ratio of 0.5–0.9 pts. wt. second component per 10 pts. wt. first component.

EFFECT: high-viscosity bone cement formed by combining said separate components hardens for a certain time, has moderate thermal effect, biocompatibility, sufficient biomechanical strength in solid phase and radiopacity, sufficient for intraoperative control and obtaining diagnostic information, cement can be introduced in vertebroplasty by injection through a needle-cannula into the affected vertebral body or through cannulated fenestrated screws.
