FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to investigation of physical and chemical properties of polymer materials and can be used for rapid tests to determine coefficients of gas permeability through membranes/films/plates. Device for determining gas permeability of polymer materials comprises a housing consisting of two chambers, upper and lower. In the upper chamber there is a hole with a gasket made of vacuum rubber, into which a sleeve with the analysed sample of polymer material is installed. Tightness of connections is ensured by vacuum gaskets installed between the sleeve and the upper and lower chambers. Closure and sealing are performed by means of a coupling nut, which is twisted along the thread on the lower chamber, providing pressing and closing of the chambers, which presses the sleeve installed in the upper chamber, to the gasket in the upper chamber and closes with a blade at the inlet. Blade is a strip of metal with diameter of 30 mm, which, when the chamber is twisted, cuts into the sample, ensuring tightness of the connection of the chambers, and prevents gas leaks through the connections and microgaps into the lower chamber of the device. Upper chamber is equipped with a main line with a valve and a pressure and vacuum gauge for supply of the test gas, as well as a pneumatic resistor for the test gas outlet. Lower chamber is connected to a vacuum pump and a thermocouple vacuum gauge to control the degree of vacuum.

EFFECT: faster and more accurate determination of concentration of gas penetrated through polymer material.
