SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device for making threads on metal pipes. Method comprises making thread on at least one end of at least one metal pipe (3) by cutting metal pipe (3) at least on one CNC processing machine (2), method includes optical measurement of thread during threading process or during threading process and after thread cutting process, as well as electronic recording and evaluation of measurement data of thread profile and/or thread sealing edge (6) and output of control commands for control means of processing machine (2) based on measurement data using at least one control device connected to processing machine (2). Plant comprises at least one CNC machining machine (2) for cutting metal pipe (3) provided with thread, control device for transmitting control commands to processing machine (2), as well as at least one device for optical measurement of cut thread, means for electronic recording and storage of thread measurement data, as well as at least one control device for outputting control commands based on thread measurement data. Device for optical recording and storage of measurement data is connected to the control device of processing machine (2).
