FIELD: obtaining rare-earth metals.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of cerium (III) by extraction from technogenic raw material with a complex salt composition in form of an aqueous solution. Method involves placing an aqueous solution into a reactor and while stirring, adding sulfuric acid at a ratio of the volume of the acid to the volume of solution of 1:2 to obtain double sulphates, filtering them to obtain a solid phase and an aqueous phase. Then, aqueous phase is placed in reactor, alkali is added to it, mixing, with production of mixture, which is sent for filtration to obtain an aqueous phase and a solid phase in the form of hydroxides. Further, the obtained solid phase is transferred into a reactor and nitric acid is added until its complete dissolution, to obtain a solution containing cerium (III) nitrate, to which, after adding an anionic surfactant, which is sodium dodecyl sulphate, sodium chloride is added in amount of 0.0025 to 0.25 mol/l, then pH is adjusted from 3.0 to 7.0 by adding nitric acid, thermostatted at temperature from 20 to 25 °C. Further, isooctyl alcohol is added as an extractant and stirred for not more than 30 minutes, wherein the organic phase is separated and dried to obtain cerium oxide.

EFFECT: higher degree of extraction of cerium (III) cations.
