FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to reduce emissions N2O into atmosphere. Disclosed is material as a catalyst for decomposition N2O, having a non-stoichiometric spinel type crystal structure of general formula Co3O4-x/2Ay, where x is equal to 0.02 to 0.3, A denotes an alkaline element and y is equal to 0.06 to 0.18. Ratio A/Co is equal to 0.02 to 0.06; relation Co2+/Co3+ is from 0.55 to 0.80; size of primary particles is equivalent to size of crystallites equal to 5 to 30 nm. Also disclosed is a method of producing such material and use thereof as a catalyst.
EFFECT: group of inventions enables to obtain a stable catalyst providing a degree of conversion of more than 90% at temperatures below 350°C.
