FIELD: inorganic synthesis catalysts.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides catalyst containing 0.1 to 10 mol % Co3-xMxO4, where M represents Fe or Al and x=0.25-2, supported by cerium oxide for decomposing N2O into NO-containing gases. Invention comprises further a way of carrying out a process comprising formation of N2O. N2O-containing gas is brought into contact with above-defined catalyst at 250 to 1000оС. Process can as well include stage wherein ammonia is oxidized in presence of oxidation catalyst and resulting gas mixture comes into contact with catalyst containing cobalt component supported by cerium oxide at 500-100оС.
EFFECT: multipurpose active and heat-resistant N2O decomposition catalyst created.
