FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and represents a method for controlling fusarium spike of wheat. Arable soil is mulched by application of plots on the cultivated area at the outcrops of wheat, which are at the stage of ontogenesis 31 according to BBCH classification, first of compost, then of wheat straw. Amount of compost and wheat straw is calculated based on moisture content and carbon content of wheat straw and compost, which, when added to the treated area, corresponds to a mulch concentration of 50–60 gC×m-2 for compost and 160–180 gC×m-2 for straw. For mulching one uses dry wheat straw with length of 15–25 cm, moisture content 7–15 wt.%, carbon content in dry mass is 40–45 wt.%, and compost based on cattle manure or based on poultry droppings and champignon production wastes, with moisture content of 53–69 wt.%, carbon content in dry mass 17–30 wt.%. Characteristics of the harvested grain are assessed.

EFFECT: reduced portion of wheat grains contaminated with fusarium blight, reduced content of mycotoxin DON in grain and increased wheat yield.
