FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing reed switches for tightness by immersing them in liquid and detecting formed gas bubbles. Method of testing reed switches for tightness, which consists in the fact that a closed chamber with transparent walls is partially filled with a liquid with a low saturated vapour pressure, reed switches are immersed twice into the liquid, each time a vacuum is created above the liquid and the release of gas bubbles from the surface of the reed switches is successively controlled, which are at two different temperatures, wherein liquid having room temperature is used, according to the results of the first stage of tests, leaky reed switches are selected, then in turn the outputs of each such reed switch are connected to the alternating voltage source and again immersed into the liquid, in the contact gap of the reed switch, a glow discharge is excited under conditions which do not cause destruction of the surface of its contacts, and for 3–25 seconds, the reed switch is heated to temperature of 300–400 °C.
EFFECT: simplified control of tightness of reed switches.
