FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing (meth)acrolein by vapor-phase catalytic oxidation using a multi-tube reactor. Described is a method of producing (meth)acrolein by vapor-phase catalytic oxidation of propylene or isobutylene in a multi-tube reactor with a plurality of reaction tubes, wherein in each reaction tube there is a reaction zone filled with a catalyst containing molybdenum oxide, and a cooling zone filled with an inert substance, wherein the temperature of the heat carrier flowing outside the cooling zone is lower than the temperature of the heat carrier flowing outside the reaction zone, and wherein the inert substance includes an inert substance with a main axis length which is equal to or 1.7–3.4 times the length of the catalyst main axis. Also described is a method of producing (meth)acrylic acid, in which (meth)acrolein obtained by the above method of producing (meth)acrolein is converted to (meth)acrylic acid by vapor-phase catalytic oxidation.
EFFECT: providing a method of producing (meth)acrolein and (meth)acrylic acid, where an increase in the pressure drop in the reaction tubes with time can be limited due to the use of a filler for the cooling zone having certain dimensions.
