FIELD: optical instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical instrument making, specifically to liquid optical systems controlled by an electromagnetic device. Liquid varifocal lens includes a cylindrical housing with end protective glasses and an electromagnet on the outer surface and two liquids inside the housing, separated by an elastic membrane. Electromagnet in the form of a ring is fixed in the middle of the housing made of non-magnetic material. Housing has annular groove on inner surface with two unions – inlet and outlet – on outer surface for filling the annular groove with lubricant under pressure. Elastic membrane is fixed on a steel annular holder, which can move along the inner cylindrical surface of the housing, and, moving together with the holder, the shape of the elastic membrane and refracting liquids changes the curvature. Coiled cylindrical springs are arranged between protective glasses and movable holder. Optical properties of liquids form an achromatic pair.
EFFECT: reduced chromatism.
