METHOD OF PRESERVING AND STORING CATION-EXCHANGE RESINS IN DESALTING PLANT Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC B01J49/06 B01J49/60

Abstract RU 2826722 C1

FIELD: various technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preservation and storage of cation-exchange resins, involving: removal of organic and mineral impurities on the surface of a cationite grain with 3–4% NaOH solution prepared on demineralised water and preheated to temperature of 40–50 °C, by passing the NaOH solution through the cationite in an upward direction in an amount of one volume of the cationite load at rate of 2–3 m/h, holding the cationite in the NaOH solution for 3–4 hours and further passing the NaOH solution through the cationite in an amount of two volumes of the cationite load with speed of 2–3 m/h; washing the cationite from the NaOH solution with demineralised water at rate of 4–6 m/h until neutral reaction of the filtrate; preparation of preserving 15–20% NaCl solution on demineralised water; conversion of the cationite into the most stable salt form by passing 15–20% NaCl solution through the cationite at rate of 4–6 m/h in an upward direction until the content of chlorides at the inlet and outlet of the filter is equalized; placing the cationite for storage in container with 15–20% NaCl solution, which prevents atmospheric action on the cationite.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of more complete purification of the cationite from organic compounds and mineral impurities, increased dynamic exchange capacity of the cationite after its preservation and storage during the period of long idle time of the WTP, as well as reduced probability of biofouling of the cationite during its storage.
