SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of transmitting and receiving quadrature amplitude modulation signals and can be used in radio relay communication systems. In the method of transmitting and receiving quadrature amplitude modulation signals on the receiving side, the modulated signal of the first channel is amplified by a first adjustable amplifier before filtering in band Bc, and the unmodulated harmonic signal of the second channel after filtering in the band Bcar equal to Bc/m is amplified by means of a second adjustable amplifier covered by a fast automatic gain control loop operating on the criterion of the instantaneous level of the unmodulated harmonic signal. Signal of the fast automatic gain control loop, which controls the transfer coefficient of the second controlled amplifier, is used to control the transfer coefficient of the first controlled amplifier.

EFFECT: reduced effect of fast fading of received signal level on operation of receiver.
