SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a chromium/aluminium oxide catalyst with a silicon dioxide coating for polymerisation of olefins, containing from 0.01 to 20 wt.% chromium in terms of the weight of the catalyst and aluminium oxide coated with silicon dioxide, containing from 70 to 95 wt.% silicon dioxide in terms of weight of aluminium oxide coated with silicon dioxide, where the catalyst has a pore volume of 0.5 to 2 ml/g and a BET surface area of 275 to 550 m2/g.

EFFECT: high catalytic activity of the catalyst when used in methods for polymerisation of olefins.
