FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hand-held lifting equipment and is intended for covering, holding and uniform distribution of weight of pipes during their lifting, movement, in particular, when laying pipeline modules in the process of deploying a field main pipeline, as well as when it is necessary to perform works on elimination of accidents and faults on the pipeline. Lifting tongs for pipes contains gripping levers (1) symmetrical relative to the vertical axis, on the lower ends of which there are tongs (2), and on upper ends there are folding handles (3), comprising a means of fixing the position of levers in a given position, made in the form of latch (4), and on the second lever there are retainers for latch (6) and (7). On latch (4) there are two recesses (5a) (b) spaced from each other, providing coverage of transported pipes (7) with nominal diameter of either 100, or 150 mm, wherein the pipe coverage with tongs is not less than 0.75 of the outer diameter of the pipe. Tongs (2) are made with groove (11) on inner surface, in which there are inserted replaceable protective pads (11a) of identical profile to grooves.

EFFECT: increasing the efficiency and reliability of the lifting tongs by eliminating the possibility of it slipping along the pipe body while simultaneously expanding the range of pipe diameters used.
