FIELD: metal processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal processing and can be used in production of arched U-shaped articles with thickness of 0.7 mm to 1 mm. A U-shaped profile is obtained, having triangular cuts in vertical walls, the number of which depends on the height of the vertical walls and the preset bending radius of the article. Wherein sheet metal unfold is used wherein triangular cuts are made by cutting. Cut lines are located on two opposite sides of the unfold from the edge and, when connected in pairs, form tops of angles located on the bending lines of the unfold into a U-shape. Then, said unfold is bent along said bending lines. Produced U-shaped profile is bent along arc to produce article geometry and butt welding of vertical wall joints is performed.
EFFECT: reduced labour intensity and improved manufacturability of the method, as well as reduced rejects of the finished product.
