FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of obtaining powders of refractory intermetallic compound Cr2Ta, as a basis for making composite alloys intended for operation under conditions of high operating temperatures. Method includes pressing of initial charge from powder mixture of oxides of Cr2O3, Ta2O5 and calcium hydride CaH2 to provide concentration of chromium in obtained intermetallic compound at level of 35.3±1.5 wt.%, concentration of tantalum is the rest, note here that initial charge is compacted to achieve density of 1.9–2.5 g/cm3. Obtained compacted mixture is subjected to hydride-calcium synthesis at a temperature of more than 1,200 to 1,300 °C for at least 6 hours in containers from a non-calcium metal. Obtained reaction products are treated with water and then with a solution of hydrochloric acid to obtain a washed powder. Washed powder is dried and classified.
EFFECT: obtaining intermetallic compound Cr2Ta with content of basic substance close to 100%, reduced power consumption of the process.
