FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of extracting zinc metal from solid metallurgical wastes containing zinc and manganese. Solid metallurgical wastes are brought into contact with an aqueous leaching solution containing chloride ions and ammonium ions to obtain at least one leaching product containing zinc ions and manganese ions, and at least one insoluble solid residue. Leaching product is cemented by adding zinc metal as a precipitant to remove at least one metal, which is not zinc, and manganese, possibly present in said leaching product in the form of ions and obtaining a purified leaching product. Prior to electrolysis, manganese ions are deposited by oxidation with permanganate ions and subsequent separation of sediment containing MnO2. Purified leaching product is subjected to electrolysis in an electrolytic cell containing at least one cathode and at least one anode, immersed in said purified leaching product to deposit zinc metal on said cathode and obtain at least one depleted leaching product.
EFFECT: method enables to obtain zinc of high purity.
