FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to devices and methods for separating isotopic mixtures and extracting helium-3 isotope from helium-containing natural gas and can be used in chemical industry. Method of producing a helium-3 isotope from natural helium involves feeding a stream into a first rectification column and withdrawing a helium-3-enriched stream into a second rectification column. According to the invention, the initial stream of natural liquid helium is cooled to a state corresponding to the superfluid state of the helium-4 isotope, and the initial stream is introduced into the first rectification column through the series-connected first filtration chamber and the second filtration chamber. In the first filtration chamber, the initial stream is converted using the mechanocaloric effect to form a helium-3-rich first and helium-3 depleted second streams of the first filtration chamber and the subsequent withdrawal of the first filtration chamber stream into the second filtration chamber, where the first flow of the first filtration chamber is converted using a thermomechanical effect to form a helium-3-rich first and a helium-3-depleted second flow of the second filtration chamber, followed by withdrawal of the first stream of the second filtration chamber into the first rectification column. First flow of the second rectification column is withdrawn into the storage unit through a cryoadsorber.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of producing a helium-3 isotope from natural helium.
