FIELD: nonlinear radar.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of nonlinear radar ranging, in which the received useful signal used is a signal scattered by a nonlinear scatterer at the frequency of one of the harmonics of the probing signal. Disclosed method employs an asynchronous mode of operation of a nonlinear radar. When processing a signal received by a nonlinear radar receiver in the form of a mixture of noise and M chirp radio pulses of a scattered signal with a central frequency nfPS, frequency range nΔfPS, period T and durations τ received signal is divided into M realizations with durations (T-τ) and conversion of each implementation to its intermediate frequency so that the intermediate frequency and boundaries of the spectral band of each m-th implementation are constantly increased or constantly decreased by the value nΔfPS. With synchronous summation of all M realizations, a summed radio pulse is formed, which changes its filling frequency according to a linear law in the range of filling frequency MnΔfPS. Result of compression of such a summed radio pulse in a matched filter enables to improve the accuracy of determining range to the nonlinear scatterer by a factor of M.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining range to a nonlinear scatterer in a nonlinear radar using chirp probing signals while maintaining the signal-to-noise ratio.
