FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to non-ferrous metallurgy, particularly to processing waste water from mining enterprises for extraction of copper. Method involves cementation of copper by passing waste water through a column-type cementing machine with iron-containing material loaded as a metal cementing agent. Concentration of copper in waste water ranges from 50 mg/dm3 to 5 g/dm3, iron-containing material used is direct reduction iron in form of pellets with particle size of 5 mm to 30 mm and provide duration of contact of solid and liquid phases from 1 to 10 minutes.
EFFECT: increased extraction of copper from waste water up to 90–96% and obtaining of cement sediment with copper content of not less than 50%.
