FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to polymer synthesis technology, specifically to a method of producing poly-2,2-bis[4-(m-phenylenephthalimido-3-oxy)phenyl]propane (PEI). Method is carried out by reacting bis(3-nitrophthalimido)benzene with a disodium salt of bisphenol A and is characterized by that the end product is obtained in a mixture of dry DMSO and dry toluene for 18 hours at temperature of 55 °C. Bis(3-nitrophthalimido)benzene is obtained by reacting 3-nitrophthalic anhydride with m-phenylenediamine using N-methylpyrrolidone and toluene, with simultaneous removal of the formed water by azeotropic distillation. Disodium salt of bisphenol A is obtained by reacting sodium metal and bisphenol A in absolute methanol and dry toluene, followed by evaporation of the resulting solution.
EFFECT: providing a method of producing the desired high-molecular weight PEI with no cyclic monomer and dimer impurities, as well as high output of the product.
