FIELD: various technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to repair of metal structures and can be used to eliminate leaks through crack-like defects of thick-walled metal structures. A metal pressure plate is made according to the size of the crack, cleaned, cleaned to a metallic lustre and the metal surface is levelled in the zone of the plate installation, blind holes are marked and drilled for bolts on both sides along the crack, and a sealing composition is installed on the defect. Then the pressure plate is installed and by means of bolts and the pressure plate the sealing composition is tightly pressed to the article. Pressure plate is made from material having shape memory effect with shape recovery temperature corresponding to temperature of end of austenitic transformations (AE), which is lower than the working temperature of the repaired metal structure, the plate is cooled to the temperature of the end of martensite transformations (ME), stretched in the direction perpendicular to the direction of the crack, and in the cooled state is transported to the place of repair and installed on the metal structure.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to prevent repeated occurrence of leakage, as a result of crack propagation, at minimum dimensions of repair device.
