SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heat engineering and can be used in heat exchangers and cooling systems of nuclear reactors or their cooling pools. In a passive heat removal device based on a controlled thermosyphon, comprising a tank filled with a heat carrier, inside of which there is an evaporation zone, which is an evaporation module filled with a working medium, which includes four vertical pipes placed at the same distance from each other in the volume of the heat carrier, inside which there are heat-generating assemblies, transport zone is made of lifting and lowering channels, compensation chamber is installed outside the housing of the device and is made of a housing filled with granulated polyethylene, piston with a spring, connected by a guide rod with a slide gate valve located in front of the lower plane of the evaporation module and changing the area of inlet cross-sections of vertical pipes depending on heat carrier temperature.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of heat energy transfer in wide range of thermal modes.
