FIELD: gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gas industry, in particular, to main pipeline transportation of gas, and is intended for creation of inert medium during construction and repair works. Method of creating an inert medium in the inner cavity of a system including a main gas line, a distribution gas line and process pipelines of the compressor station includes supply of gaseous nitrogen into the internal cavities of the system. Gaseous nitrogen is supplied with high purity with nitrogen concentration of not less than 99.9% and dew point temperature equal to or less than minus 60 °C. One of the end parts of the system is connected to a discharge plug or a discharge manifold to provide for the release of the gas-air medium from the internal cavity of the system into the atmosphere. Opposite side of the system is connected to a mobile nitrogen gasifier of liquid nitrogen, which consists of a transport isothermal tank for storing liquid nitrogen and an atmospheric heat exchanger for injecting gaseous nitrogen into the inner cavity of the system in a volume sufficient to create an inert medium with oxygen concentration of not more than 2% of the volume.
EFFECT: exclusion of creation of explosive and fire hazardous concentrations of natural gas with oxygen contained in atmospheric air.
