FIELD: ships and other floating facilities.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ship control means and can be used to ensure safe manoeuvring of a ship when mooring to a cargo terminal. Position of the ship as a movable object in space is oriented so that the ship hull falls into the coverage area of laser range finders, video cameras and microcontrollers, which are fixed in two reference points on the surface of the terminal. In the space between two reference points there is an intelligent unit providing communication of the ship with the marine terminal. Ship positioning relative to marine terminal and determination of longitudinal and transverse motion of ship is carried out by parameters of stiffness triangle formed by intersection of line parallel to axis of ship, and line parallel to line connecting two reference points on terminal. Distance between two reference points on the surface of the terminal is determined by parameters of ships approaching the berth.

EFFECT: obtaining reliable high-accuracy navigation data on the position of the hull of a specific ship in relation to the terminal in real time.
